Over population in Pakistan
At the time of independence the population of Pakistan was about 32.5 million only after 77 of independence the population has increased exponentially to 245.2 million, on average a total of 2.7 million people are added to the total population every years which is a huge number. This exponential increase in population is putting a lot of pressure on already exhausted resources of under develop country like Pakistan in which there is lack of planning and mechanization about the proper usage of its resources. There many factors which leads to this exponential increase in population:
Religious reason
The first and most important reason of this exponential increase in population is the religious prospective of Islam about the population growth. Most of the Muslim consider it a sin to do a family planning so is obligatory on every man and women couple to have as many children as they can so that the Muslim population in the world will outnumber the non believer population one day and true glory to the religion of the God (islam) will be established on the planet earth . secondly every Muslim believe that all humans livelihood is in the hand of Allah and child came to this world by the will of Allah , so they considered it against the principal of Islam and the will of God to stop having children or do family planning .
Cultural reason
The culture of subcontinent is mostly dominated by combined and large families system, in sub continental culture children are considered as source of economic and social security , therefore the new born are welcomed with zeal and pride in the house , due to this one of the reason of population growth in Pakistan.
Geographical reason
The location of Pakistan, its climate and geography is best suitable for humans reproduction and existence these factor added by other social and economic factor increase the fertility, female fertility rate in Pakistan is 3.48 as of 2022 which is one of the highest in the world, this high fertility rate is one of the reason of over population .
Disadvantages of overpopulation:
The high population of Pakistan has put a lot of pressure on the available resource of the country, as a lot of land, water and air resource are to be consumed by the large population of Pakistan, it became impossible for the government to make up with the increasing demand, therefore they import from the other countries which result in high prices , inflation and economic stagnation of the country,
Over population is the reason of air, water and land pollution in Pakistan, with almost 3 million new people added to the total population each year, the waste management of the country became not enough to control the waste of the population which leads to pollution in the country,
Overpopulation reduce the quality of life of citizen in Pakistan as infrastructure, health and educational institution became not enough fulfill the growing demand.
Overpopulation is also one of the main reason of unemployment in Pakistan as the country need to create 3 million job every years which near to impossible for a developing country like Pakistan. unemployment increase in Pakistan
The population growth can be controlled with the help of proper awareness program , in these programme help from Ulamas can be take who should make it clear that family planning is not against the principal of religion, a proper law for family planning should be made and the government must make sure to implement it at any cost.
