Scientific point of view of life and universe:
Some 13.8 billion years ago , due to unknown reason a high energy density hot object same as the size of an atom burst out by releasing huge amount of energy which mark the beginning of the universe. About one hundred thousand years after the big bang the universe cool down enough to from the first building block of matter hydrogen atom. those atom evolve with time to from higher element which combine together to form stars and planets like our own earth. Where condition became suitable for those molecules to solely and gradually combine together to from bio chemical substance, those substance further evolve to form purely biological prokaryotic cell, these cells combine together to form more complex eukaryotic organisms, at the expense of millions years of time these eukaryotic organism evolve to form more complex biological structure like homo sapiens(humans). conscious also developed in homos, due to conscious they became the first organism to employ other animals and they also utilize other resources available on planet earth more effectively for their survival and development. with time human civilization advanced enough to develop science, they are now in pursue of utilizing the extraterrestrial resources to develop a sustainable civilization in the future. But how much advanced we became we will not sustain forever, because many many trillion years into the future the universe and every thing inside it including life and conscious even the last existing black hole will evaporate and die.
so according to science life is indeterministic and do not have any special purpose, we should make our own purpose in life and enjoy our tiny little time in which cosmos has bring us into existence by chance . but according to science this may not be the final understanding of life and universe as there are still room for more researches and experiments.

Religious point of view of life and universe:
A supernatural force, which is beyond the realm in which laws of physic are applied, who was always there before the creation of time and who will be there after the end of time, who is infinite, who is forever, who is God. God has created the universe and everything inside it with a purpose , but in every religion the purpose is slightly different. In my own religion Islam and all monotheistic religions the universe and life has been created by God for purpose of submission before him. there are two stages of life, corporeal(mortal) life and spiritual(eternal) life, God has bring us into existence in this corporeal life to be lived in accordance with his will, but life will not end when we and the universe were we exists die out, rather it will enter into spiritual(eternal) dimension, there will be eternal life which will go forever without an end. but the quality of that eternal life will depends on the principal and values according to which we live in this world , if we live according to the purpose of our creation their will be rewards otherwise their will be punishment.
So from religious perspective life and the universe is deterministic, it has been created for a purpose by the supernatural force, the purpose of submission to the creator and to live according to his will.

Conclusion :
When we dive into the meaning of life through religious or scientific lens the only thing common in between them is the changing nature of life, according to science it changes from simple to complex forms, from non conscious to conscious form and it will continue to change till the end of time, according to religious perspective it will change from mortal to eternal life. so life change, life evolve and our understanding of life should also evolve with it. whatsoever is the meaning of life to us we should live it fully, happily and purposely , but it must be kept in mind that our purpose and happiness must not create any hurdles for our fellow humans and other biological and physical eco system.
